Children from Little Foxes Day Nursery in Newton-le-Willows visited the Anwyl Homes Brookfields development on Earle Street, as part of their Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The construction experience started with an informative talk by Stephen Daniels, SHEQ Advisor at Anwyl Homes, on the most import Health and Safety issues on site. Ensuring the three and four year olds remained interested, one child was invited to try on Steve’s hard hat and jump on his toes, which were protected by his steel toe capped boots.
The children were then escorted to the development where they were also able to see and learn all about forklift trucks and diggers, as well as the various tradesmen who work on a building site and the materials required to build a house. Steve also pointed out all the potential hazards and highlighted the importance of being cautious and careful on site.
Kathryn Simpson, Nursery Manager at Little Foxes, comments:
“The visit to Brookfields was invaluable for the children. They learnt so much about health and safety surrounding and on building sites, as well as what is entailed in building new homes.
“They thoroughly enjoyed their educational trip and particularly loved meeting the various tradesmen – this is something they will certainly talk about for a long time to come!”
Marketing Manager at Anwyl Homes, Claire Anwyl adds:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Little Foxes to Brookfields. The nursery is located next door so we wanted to host an enjoyable and interactive visit for the pre-school pupils who have, from a distance, watched us build at this development in recent months.
“We hope it was a memorable visit and that they take away lots of knowledge from their experience on a building site.”
