Congleton Harriers are delighted to announce that they have secured a new main sponsor for its 34th Sting in the Tail Half Marathon this year; leading residential developer Anwyl Homes.
The housebuilder has confirmed its support of the highly regarded race with the provision of bespoke technical t-shirts, one for each of the expected 600 runners.
Furthermore, Anwyl Homes’ Housing Managing Director, Mathew Anwyl, will also take part in the race, alongside a number of Anwyl employees.
Currently building a selection of four and five bedroom homes in Congleton, Anwyl’s Somerford Grove development is located next to Congleton High School, just 100 yards from the start line.
Established for 35 years, Congleton Harriers is one of the oldest running Clubs in the region. Securing sponsorship for the Half Marathon is hugely important, as each year the Club selects three charities to benefit from the money raised by the race, with this year’s chosen charities confirmed as Storehouse Foodbank, Parkinsons UK and Visyon.
Phil Dawson, a member of the Congleton Harriers, comments: “We’re really grateful to Anwyl Homes for its generous sponsorship. Each year we give every runner a unique t-shirt at the finish line as a memento of the race, so Anwyl’s kind donation will go towards the cost of producing these. Raising money for charity is at the heart of the race, so the more money we generate, the more we can give back to the community.
“The Club are also delighted that Mathew is taking part in the race. It is his first time running the route and we wish him well – it’s great to see this kind of support from businesses operating in the area.”
Mathew Anwyl adds: “We very much value the importance of community spirit and Congleton Harriers organise a number of races throughout the year leading up to the Sting in the Tail Half Marathon, raising money for charity.
“It is a pleasure to support the Club through the provision of the t-shirts, and I am really looking forward to taking part in the race. I had better put on my running shoes and start training – there are some very good runners in the Club!”
Taking place on Sunday 1st October 2017, at 9.30am, entries for the Half Marathon are now open. To enter, please visit www.congleton-harriers.co.uk.
