Anwyl adds Christmas party funds to employees’ movember total

30 November 2020

AS PART of the Xmas Party Heroes campaign – an initiative to donate unused company funds set aside for festivities – Anwyl Homes has pledged to top up its employees’ fundraising efforts for men’s health charity Movember by £1,000.

With the usual Christmas parties cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the national charity campaign is encouraging companies to donate the money they would normally spend on their festive celebrations to a good cause instead.

The £1,000 Anwyl has donated to Movember is in addition to £2,300 raised by Anwyl’s staff members by growing moustaches through November or taking part in ‘Move for Movember’.

Movember is the UK’s leading men’s health charity with a focus on raising money and awareness for men’s mental health and suicide prevention, as well as prostate and testicular cancer.

Ross Jones, quantity surveyor for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We’ve all had a bit of a laugh growing funny moustaches, which is much needed at the moment, but there’s also an important message and that’s raising awareness around men’s mental health and men’s cancers.

Men can often be quite closed off around these issues but the Movember charity provides the tools to help us to talk more to our families and our mates.”

Alongside the moustache growers, Anwyl Homes marketing coordinator Hannah George took part in ‘Move for Movember’ and ran an impressive 108 km.

Anwyl has donated a total of £7,000 to five charities as part of the Xmas Party Heroes campaign.

Graham Anwyl, chairman of Anwyl, said: “Charities have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and many of their funding streams have dried up so the Xmas Party Heroes campaign is a fantastic way for companies to support good causes at this time of need.

“While many of us may have initially felt sad that we can’t celebrate with our friends and colleagues this year, knowing that charities are benefitting from additional funds is so much more rewarding. We really hope many more companies will get involved in this wonderful campaign to support their charities of choice.”
