Xmas Party Heroes is an initiative to donate unused company funds set aside for festivities. The funds will assist Luv Preston in providing food parcels for those in need and Leyland-based SLEAP to support homeless young people in South Ribble, Chorley and Preston.
With the usual Christmas parties cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a national charity campaign is encouraging companies to donate the money they would normally spend on their festive celebrations to a good cause instead. Buckshaw Village based Anwyl Homes Lancashire chose Luv Preston and SLEAP as the beneficiaries of its #xmaspartyheroes donations.
Luv Preston founder Jack Mcvicar said:
This year we’ve gone from delivering hundreds of food parcels to providing thousands. Anwyl have demonstrated that they genuinely have a heart for what we are doing and, along with the donation, construction director Shaun Sumner even helped deliver food parcels. We’ll use the donation to buy groceries, toiletries and other essentials for our food parcels. It’s a real blessing for people in need.
Stela Stansfield, from SLEAP, added:
SLEAP is thankful for Anwyl’s generosity – they are truly helping to spread Christmas cheer to the most vulnerable in the community. The donation will enable us to continue to support young people who are escaping homelessness but are still facing so many challenges and difficulties. The money will go towards making sure these young people have food, toiletries and other items they may need urgently. Every gift is a reminder that there is hope for a brighter future ahead.
Anwyl has donated a total of £7,000 to five charities as part of the Xmas Party Heroes campaign. Graham Anwyl, chairman of The Anwyl Group, said:
Charities have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and many of their funding streams have dried up so the Xmas Party Heroes campaign is a fantastic way for companies to support good causes at this time of need. While many of us may have initially felt sad that we can’t celebrate with our friends and colleagues this year, knowing that charities are benefitting from additional funds is so much more rewarding. We really hope many more companies will get involved in this wonderful campaign to support their charities of choice.
