Commercial Trainee
Anwyl Group was founded in 1930 as a joinery and woodworking contractor based in North Wales. Since then, we have expanded into three successful divisions: Anwyl Homes, Anwyl Partnerships and Anwyl Land, operating from the businesses’ Head Office at St David’s Park, Ewloe.
The successful candidate will embark on a commercial traineeship, with the opportunity to assist and learn various aspects of estimating, quantity surveying, procurement within our Lancashire Division, working alongside our experienced team. This role will provide a successful candidate with first-hand insight and valuable experience as they help to ensure that all operations within the Lancashire Division department run smoothly and efficiently.
Working Hours : 8.30am – 5.15pm (Mon- Thurs)/8.30am – 4.00pm (Fri)
Plus one day college release (TBC)
Reporting to : Head of Commercial
Location : Buckshaw Village, Chorley
Duties and Responsibilities:
During the induction period, the successful candidate will assist the various teams in the Lancashire Division in the execution of their duties to deliver projects to our clients. These include:
- Estimating – pricing up new projects prior to entering into contract;
- Quantity Surveying – creating subcontractor orders, subcontractor valuation & payments,
cost investigation and reporting, comparison to budget and forecasting project outcomes; - Procurement – handling site requisitions, creation of orders and processing invoices
- Site Management – experience of work on site to appreciate the requirements to deliver projects on time to a high standard of quality at a competitive cost
Following the induction period, the successful candidate will be invited to specialise in their preferred field and commence a formal training scheme to obtain the correct qualifications
The successful candidate will have most of the following experience, skills and attributes:
- A-C grades in English and Maths;
- Proficient and confident Microsoft Office user (Excel, Outlook, Word);
- Keen interest in construction and a willingness to work towards a qualification;
- Attention to detail and high standard of accuracy;
- Excellent numeric and literacy skills;
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Confidence and determination;
- Good administrative skills;
- Confidentiality and professionalism;
- Ability to multitask and prioritise work;
- Demonstrates initiative;
- Ability to both work independently and effectively in a team;
- Adaptable/flexible;
- Punctuality
A full UK driving licence, or the ambition to work towards one, is also desirable.
