Trainee Assistant Site Manager (North Wales)

Anwyl Group was founded in 1930 as a joinery and woodworking contractor based in North Wales. Since then, we have expanded into three successful divisions: Anwyl Homes, Anwyl Partnerships and Anwyl Land, operating from the businesses’ Head Office at St David’s Park, Ewloe.

The successful candidate will embark on a site management traineeship. They will have the opportunity to assist the Site Management team with all on-site activities, health and safety and building operations. Over the training period, the aim will be to equip the successful candidate with correct skills, experience and qualifications required to progress further in the industry.

Working Hours:  8.00am – 5.00pm (Mon-Fri) plus one day college release (TBC)

Reporting to:  Senior Construction Manager

Location:  North Wales

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend college course (normally once a week) to understand theoretical aspects of construction whilst working towards achieving a relevant NVQ;
  • Assist with and learn to understand all aspects of site management;
  • Learn how to ensure that projects are planned and completed in a timely and safe manner;
  • Assist in ensuring inspections of all operations are carried out in a safely;
  • Gain understanding of site boundaries, access points and site office procedures;
  • Shadow the Site Management team on health and safety inspection visits and understand Anwyl’s standards for health and safety;
  • Assist to coordinate safe and tidy storage of materials delivered to the site;
  • Other duties including general site housekeeping.

The successful candidate will have the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • 9–4 or A*–C grades in English and Maths;
  • Two A-Level passes/BTEC National Diploma
  • Keen interest in construction and a willingness to work towards a qualification;
  • Keen to learn quickly and progress;
  • Attention to detail and strong appreciation of safety on site
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Confidence and determination;
  • Ability to both work independently and effectively in a team;
  • Confidentiality and professionalism;
  • Demonstrates initiative;
  • Adaptable/flexible;
  • Punctuality

A full UK driving license, or the ambition to work towards one, is also desirable.
