Trainee Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor

Anwyl Group have an exciting position for a Trainee Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to join their HSE Team.  Anwyl Group is a Housebuilder & Construction company in North Wales and North West with over 90 years of experience in our industry. We’re focused on quality in all areas, determined to change thinking and committed to raising the profile and performance of HSE across the organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn within a professional and supportive environment. Some experience in a relevant role would be desirable, but the priority is you can display the potential to progress operating as a HSE Advisor in the future.

As part of the HSE team, the Trainee HSE Advisor will provide day to day support and services to the company’s managers, HSE Advisors and employees. Previous experience should ideally be in the construction industry. The post will require travel throughout North-Mid Wales, North West.

Location: North West, North Wales & Mid Wales

Contract: Permanent

Working Hours: 8.30am- 5.15pm (Mon- Thurs)/8.30am- 4.00pm (Fri)

Salary: Attractive Salary + car allowance + benefits

As part of the Group HSE department your Roles & Responsibilities will be as per below


  • Working alongside the HSE team, you will be promoting and encouraging high standards of Health and Safety within the group.
  • Assisting in the ongoing compliance to the high levels of safety already existing within the business.
  • To ensure you provide HSE support to Anwyl Group.
  • Remaining up to date with current legislation and changes to group policy and procedures, making sure that this is effectively communicated across the business.
  • Providing operational and functional HSE support with advice on the prevention of accidents and ill health.
  • Carrying out HSE inspections across various projects.
  • Overseeing HSE related documentation across the group.
  • Collating near miss, accident and incident information helping to identify trends.
  • Development of safe systems of work – risk assessment & Method statement
  • Carry out new employee company inductions
  • Review of employee risk rating following internal training

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Driving license and own vehicle is required
  • You will ideally hold a NEBOSH general or construction qualification however this is not essential.
  • GCSEs in maths & English at C or above (or equivalent) is preferable
  • Be observant, curious and able to question and challenge appropriately
  • An interest in developing your career with an organisation that is keen on internal progression.
  • Have some exposure to the construction industry and of working on a construction site.
  • Ideally you will have a CSCS card, but this is not mandatory.
  • Strong IT skills is a must, with the ability to pick-up new systems and have a good working understanding of Microsoft word
  • Good administrational & organisational skills
  • Able to collate and record information
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
